History

In December 2000, the Salvation Army decided to start planting a church in the postcode of 3064. They saw that there was a need for this fast growing area. The planting officers were led by God to plant Salvos 3064 as a cell group, a Connect Group based church (Acts 2:42-47) in which all the groups joined together on Sunday to worship God together.

February 2001 saw the Senior Officers, Majors Gary & Julie Grant, commence a prayer meeting at their home with a small group of people. Weekly worship services began in November 2001 then went public in March 2002. Services were held on Sunday nights at Wilmott Park Primary School in Craigieburn.

Late March 2005, Salvos 3064 moved to a more semi-permanent location in a factory setting at 16 Rushwood Drive, Craigieburn.

In 2011, a dedicated community facility for Salvos 3064 was established at 75 Interlink Drive, Craigieburn, with main auditorium, basketball half-court, multi-purpose rooms and a welfare service.

In 2014, Craigieburn Salvos opened a Thrift Shop at 2/25 Interlink Drive, providing another way to support and connect with our local community, as well as encourage re-using, re-purposing and recycling second-hand goods.

Salvos 3064 have always strived to be relevant to the community in which we serve. We love to find connection points with our local people – many cultures, lots of families, with a range of people -from those living in need - to living in abundance.

Our location at the outer edge of metropolitan Melbourne, close to Melbourne International Airport, and on a major highway, means that we are well-placed as a community of opportunity. As many more people move into Hume and the surrounds, we want them to know that they are moving into a community that cares, one in which the people of Jesus can make a great impact in our world and see Hume completely transformed – one life at a time, with the love of Jesus!
