Our Church
The Salvation Army Clarence City is more than just an emergency relief agency!
We are a small, vibrant, welcoming church where everyone has a place to connect and belong.
We are a safe place for people to explore spirituality, deepen their faith, and find the abundant life that Jesus promises to all those who will follow Him.
Our Church extends well beyond our Sunday meeting, and includes social activities, Bible study groups, community service, and fundraising.

Langauge is important. We choose to describe our time together on Sunday mornings as a meeting rather than a service, because it better describes what happens.
On Sunday's we gather together at 10:30am, to meet with God, and also with each other, to sing praise, pray, worship, and learn more about the life God is calling us into as a community.
This meeting is the launchpoint for each of us to enter into a life of service as we love God and love others throughout our week, making this our act of worship also.
The Details:
Our church meetings are a relaxed and informal gathering of people as we come together to sing praise and worship songs that help us connect with God in a deeper and more meaningful way and discover more about how we can connect faith and the teaching of the Bible to everyday life in a safe and inclusive community of people. Our church meetings usually run for approximately 75 minutes, and include music and singing, prayer, space for reflection, readings from the Bible, and teaching that helps us connect the Bible, faith, and life together.
Our music is a blend of more modern/contemporary songs, and older hymns. There is usually a little bit of something for everyone.
You are welcome to arrive anytime after 10:00am on a Sunday and have a cuppa and a chat before church, and to hang around after church for a cuppa and a chat.
Spiritual life development, authentic community, care for each other, connection with others, and service to our community are key parts of who we are and what we want to be. -
Children are a valued and important part of our community.
Children are encouraged to be present, participate in, and make noise during our Sunday morning church meetings! For the first (approximately) 20 minutes, children are invited to participate in our church services as we sing worship songs. We have tambourines, shakers, bells, etc. available for kids to use during this time.
Children are encouraged to be involved and participate.
During school terms, we also hold Kids Church that runs during the second half of our church meetings where they are able to learn more about living life with Jesus that is communicated in langauage and ways that are relevant to them. All children are welcome to attend and participate in kids church!
During school holiday periods, we create extra space in our church meetings for young people, having interactive segments designed specifically for them, and having activities for them to do through the rest of the meeting.

We have a Bible Study group on a Tuesday morning at 11:00am (during school terms), that meets in our church foyer area and is open to anyone who would like to come along.
This group takes time to go through a passage of the Bible and we discuss the things that stand out to us, what we think this passage reveals to us about the nature and mission of God, what the passage shows us about the nature and response of humanity is or should be towards God, and how we will take what we have discovered that day and apply it to everyday life.
Each session goes for approximately 1 hour.
We also have a couple of other small groups that meet to read the Bible, discuss it's meaning, and share how to apply it to life.
If you would like to be a part of a group, or are interested in forming a new group, please speak to us!

Clarence City Salvos provides over 700 lunches to secondary school students across our region every term!
At the beginning of each school term, we gather together on a Sunday afternoon, along with the Paddlers Against Poverty crew, and pack lunches that will be dropped off to local highschools and colleges to be given to young people who would have otherwise gone hungry.
We have seen this initiative change lives and improve outcomes of many young people.
Packing the lunches is a great way to get involved, hang out with people, and make a difference in the lives of young people doing it tough.

This program is an 8 session course that works to build self-awareness, self-esteem, and assertiveness among many other traits. Each session has a particular focus (self-awareness, anger, deperession and lonliness, stress, grief and loss, assertiveness, self-esteem, future directions) and can be done at the pace of the person participating in it.
We have a small number of people trained to facilitate this and may be able to lead you through it.
