We were subject to the Queensland Floods this week as the Bundamba creek rose to a height of 18.98m, approximately 2.75m above the height of the nearby bridge. This caused major flooding across Bundamba and extended to the Bremer River at Riverview.
Our church sustained quite a significant impact from the flooding with damage to the lower levels of each of our buildings including our main worship hall (Citadel) and Youth and Community centre as well as our office.
Although we may have lost some of our furniture, carpets and equipment, we haven’t lost our community spirit. There have been teams of people who have come to the church and started the clean up process, removing all of the damaged seats, ripping up the carpet and removing all affected items.
We’ve also been supporting those affected in our community by giving out some food and assistance to those in need. Our mission team has been working door to door offering sandwiches and refreshments to those cleaning up their own homes and helping others. We will be continue this over the coming days to help everyone in the clean up process.
If you are in the Bundamba area and in need of support, please contact us on (07) 3282 1300 or (07) 3282 2714.
If you are in emotional distress as a result of the flood crisis, please contact the Salvo Care line on 1300 36 36 22.
