L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program

Helping young people become safe, confident drivers

This program assists Victorian learner drivers to gain the driving experience required to apply for a probationary licence. Eligible drivers include those aged 16–21 with no access to a supervising driver or vehicle. It is funded by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Department of Transport, supported by the Victorian Government and coordinated by The Salvation Army.

The program enables eligible learner drivers to:

• Have up to seven free driving lessons with a professional instructor
• Be matched with a fully-licenced volunteer driver and practice vehicle to help gain driving experience.

In addition to helping young people become safe, confident drivers, this program provides an opportunity for them to interact with positive adult role models.
