Melbourne 614 - Christmas Collecting
It would be great to have you and your family, friends or colleagues involved in our Salvos Christmas Collecting activities, a great way for groups and individuals to help those less fortunate this Christmas.
Early morning: approx 6.30am to 9am (usually train station collecting)
Day: approx 9am to 5pm (this is split into shifts from 1hr to multiple hours, you choose - train station, shopping centres and CBD Street corner collecting or gift wrapping)
Evening: approx 5.15pm to 9pm (usually train station collecting, or neighbourhood collecting)
How many volunteers?
Generally in groups of 2-4, however we do numerous sites at any one time which mean we could have up to 50 volunteers a day.
Opportunities to volunteer are available from Wed 26 November – Wed 24 December 2014.
How to get involved?
Just let us know the date and time you would like to get involved and we can organise it! Contact Lauren Cockerell by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The reason why we fundraise at Christmas...
The Salvation Army Melbourne runs an annual Christmas fundraising campaign, which is integral to raise funds to support The Salvation Army’s homelessness and outreach programs. Through a range of programs including; The Market Place - an emergency relief/food security service and the Night Outreach Bus which goes out 5 nights per week to feed and monitor Melbourne’s marginally housed and homeless people, The Salvation Army supports over 100,000 people each year who are doing it tough.

What is The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614?
The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 is a team of people, based in the City of Melbourne, who work passionately with those who live on the fringes of society.
We work with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, those suffering from serious mental health issues, people affected by a range of addiction issues and people who are suffering from social poverty. We have hundreds of interactions each day with people aged from 9 to 93.
The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 provides support by supplying meals, clothing and counseling but also work with clients to help create pathways out of their current state of marginalisation. These pathways include training, volunteering, employment and accommodation options.
At The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 we run the following programs:
