Get Involved this Christmas

Get Involved with the Salvos this Christmas

It has been another difficult year – even more so for those already experiencing hardship. Here are some ways you can help us make sure we leave no one in need this Christmas.

Ways to get Involved

Host a Food or Gift Drive

Organise a food and/or gift drive to share the festive spirit with someone doing it tough this Christmas.

Here are some food and gift suggestions that might help your drive.

Volunteer this Christmas

Volunteering is another way you can give this Christmas and we would love your help. Be apart of supporting vulnerable families to celebrate Christmas in their own home by helping us sort and pack food and toy hampers.

Christmas Wrapping

We’re looking for  volunteers to help with gift wrapping at Menai Marketplace this Christmas ! It’s a fun and meaningful way to share some Christmas joy while helping raise funds to support our local community.

If you can spare a few hours (or more!), we’d be so grateful to have your help. Sign up below or contact Joel Campbell for more information.

Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal – Australia’s largest and longest-running gift collection appeal – is back again, to help make Christmas and New Year a bit brighter for those experiencing hardship.

Locations: Southgate Shopping Centre and Miranda Westfield

Choose a practical gift that can be useful beyond Christmas time and deliver it to the Express Drop Off point outside your local Kmart store, or leave it under the Wishing Tree in store.

Here's some gift suggestions to help when donating.

Schools and education providers

Your school can make a big difference and give hope to families doing it tough this holiday season. There are lots of ways to get your school and students involved in the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal, including hamper packing, hosting a food/gift drive and fundraising. Sign up as a school, class or student group today!

Fundraising Ideas

Have you been looking for a way to share the Christmas spirit with your family, friends, colleagues, church or sporting club? This year, you can host a fundraiser – in-person or online and raise vital funds for individuals and families in need.

Here are some ideas to get you started;

  • Give up your Christmas presents – This year, ask your loved ones to donate to your online fundraising page instead
  • Host a fundraising event – You can create a fundraising group to collect funds or start an online fundraiser if you aren't able to meet in person

Whichever way you choose to raise funds, know that your efforts will help bring joy and some cheer to those facing financial hardship or isolation this Christmas.
