Hi Parramatta Salvos, 

This week we continue our series Soul Detox, exploring what it means to be changed from the inside out. Hopefully if you are part of a LifeGroup, you have or will be commencing this study in the coming weeks! Don't forget that if you are still interested in LifeGroups but have not yet found a group, you can get in touch with Annette Duncan. 

As next weekend is the official Red Shield Appeal weekend for 2022, there will be no Sunday worship at Parramatta Salvos. You can join online at 9:30am for a brief Red Shield Sunday update from our team. We hope this frees you up to collect by door knocking or at one of our static locations!

Red Shield Appeal
This weekend our static collections points begin! We would love your help covering spots, so please check out the rosters in the link below and let us know where you can help out, or you can sign up using the rosters in the church foyer. 

We also encourage everyone to create a digital door knock page, click 'support your local Salvos' find Parramatta/Holroyd Zone and join our team.

A reminder that there will be no Sunday services on the Red Shield Appeal Weekend at Parramatta Salvos, freeing you up to collect at one of our many locations or do some door knocking!

Youth & YA Supper
Youth and Young Adults Supper will be at the Keast's house on Sunday 29 May, from 5PM to 7PM.  We can't wait to share together some food & fun!

Red Sunday
On Sunday June 5, we will celebrate Pentecost while also raising funds for the Red Shield Appeal with our RED SUNDAY. We invite you to come dressed in RED to our 9:30am or 11am services. 

We will also be holding a special RED bake sale. So if you would like to contribute a plate, please let Kylie know. All items will be for sale between our two services, with cash and eftpos available.

Movie Night Fundraiser
We raised just over $500 at our movie night fundraiser last week for The Red Shield Appeal. Thanks to all who came out to support - it was a fun night watching Prince of Egypt together!

Shop 5
We are excited to let you know that Shop 5 will be leased by The Salvation Army's Employment Plus. As one of Australia’s largest recruiters, E-Plus provide job seekers with specialised training, work experience and a range of support services, to help them find meaningful employment. As a not-for-profit organisation, any surplus is directed back into The Salvation Army’s social programs – providing relief to the homeless, victims of disaster and anyone who needs a helping hand.

We are excited to have another Salvo presence on site, along with the benefits that come with another shop being rented! 

Craft Group Update
Last term we launched a new Craft Group at Parramatta Salvos, and it is really beginning to take off! Last Friday 10 ladies were present, with 1 child. Community members continue to express interest in coming along, which is fantastic! 

Our friend Aihau, who was first connected to Parramatta Salvos through English Conversation Groups, has been teaching some of the ladies to beautiful Japanese paintings. Painting happens at the group, along with knitting, cross stitch, scrapbooking and more! 

We thank Denise for her leadership of the group, and extend the invitation to everyone to join each Friday at 10am in the function hall. 

Red Shield Appeal
We pray for everyone who has the opportunity to collect during our Red Shield Appeal - we pray for great conversation and opportunity to connect with our community. 

Election Weekend
We invite you to join in prayer for our nation this weekend from Micah Australia.

​Lord, thank you that you care dearly. You care about our politicians, our citizens, and our policies.

We thank you for the country in which we live, for our vote, and for democracy. We pray for your protection over it.

We pray for your peace to cover all politicians at this time. Even amidst the chaos, let there be stillness.

Please give every voter a sense of purpose and a place in this election. Help each of us to have a clear mind as we prepare to vote.

God we ask for your wisdom in how we can use our vote for the common good, to serve not only what is best for us, but best for us all together.

We pray that your will would be done in our nation, because we know your heart is for it. Help us to reflect your heart in the decisions that we make.
