This week the NSW Government announced the extension of lockdown until August 28. Although this will come as a disappointment to many, we understand that this is necessary to keep as many people safe as possible.

Over the next month, we encourage you to consider connecting with us by watching our online service each Sunday at 9:30am and joining our weekly prayer meeting at 7pm each Wednesday evening over Zoom. The link for these meetings will be posted in Parramatters each week, as well as on our social media pages.

As all staff at Parramatta Salvos are now working from home, the office phone will not be answered. However, if you need to get in touch, please email us or call the Officer Team using our mobile numbers (found in the corps directory). We are always happy to chat and will attempt to do whatever we can to assist you if needed.

Stay safe and God bless you each,

Kylie & Sarah
(Corps Officer Team)

Exploring The Salvation Army
We are excited to announce that we will be holding 'Exploring The Salvation Army' classes at Parramatta Salvos in October/November 2021. These classes are for anyone seeking a better understanding of who we are as The Salvation Army and what we believe. These classes will explore our organisation and our doctrines, with opportunity for participants to become soldiers or adherents. Even if you don't think soldiership is for you, we encourage participation in these classes to gain a better understanding about who we are and what we believe.

We will be running two groups - young adults (16-30 year olds) and adults (30 and above). To express interest, please get in touch with Sarah.
Wills Day - Online
Our Community Wills Day scheduled for August 4 will no longer be occurring 'in-person'. However, the fantastic team has been able to reschedule all appointments via Zoom. If you booked in for our Wills Day, you should have received an email update from the team. If you would still like to book an appointment, you can express interest using the link below and if an appointment becomes available, the team will get in contact with you.

Daily Devotions - Journey to the Olympics
How good have the Olympics been this week? Even if you're not an avid sports-fan, there's just something about the games and watching our Aussie athletes compete that brings a sense of pride. This week I (Sarah) discovered an 8 day devotional series on the 'Bible App' called 'Journey to the Olympics'. There are several bible readings that go alongside a devotional where each day you can listen to a short podcast snippet from a Christian Olympic athlete. I would encourage you to check it out and get into the Olympic Spirit this week and continue to spend intentional time working on your relationship with Jesus.

Check out the plan here or search for 'Journey to the Olympics' in your Bible App: https://www.bible.com/reading-plans/26669
Caring for one another
We have heard so many great stories over the past few weeks from people who have been keeping connected over the phone and via Zoom. We want to encourage everyone to keep checking in over the phone and to stay connected with one another. If you need any help with technology, please email us at parramatta@salvationarmy.org.au and we will attempt to help!
Giving during lockdown
Thank you to the many people who contribute financially to our corps by giving their weekly tithe via direct debit. If you are interested in transitioning to giving in this way, our bank details are below.

For those who give via envelopes, please hold on to these until we meet in person once again. As all staff are working from home, we cannot count money on site. We believe it is safest that you hold on to your tithes and offerings rather than dropping them in until we are able to have people back in the office completing regular banking.
Community Connection Worker
Applications for our new community connection worker role are now closed. We ask for prayer as we review applications and begin the interview process!
New Great-Grandchild
Congratulations to John Godkin who welcomes his 15th great-grandchild! Aux-Lieutenants Matthew and Amanda Pethybridge have welcomed baby daughter Selah Layne Pethybridge born at 5.26am on Wednesday 21 July. Selah is a sister to Riley, Maisie and Miles and another granddaughter for Lt Colonels Sandra and David Godkin and Colonels Kelvin and Cheralynne Pethybridge.
Beryl Drury
Please pray for Beryl who is recovering in hospital after a fall this week. We ask for healing and also God's peace as Beryl is not currently allowed to have any visitors.
Praying through our Corps Directory
We invite everyone to join us as we begin praying our way through the Corps Directory. Each week we will pray for people with surnames beginning with 3 letters of the alphabet. This week we pray for surnames A-C, and we invite you to be praying for these people in your quiet time this week.
