The Newcastle Bridge Youth & Family (NBYF) program has been designed to help young people aged between 12-25 and their families, within the Hunter Region address barriers or issues relating to drug and alcohol use, and anger managment.
The program operates through a referral system. Young people can either self refer or be referred by other agencies. This can be done online via the online referral link below, fax a referral form to Oasis Hunter. Alternatively young people can be referred by phone.
Once a referral is received, clients were possible are contacted within 48 hours and an initial appointment is organised for a caseworker to meet with the client. At this initial appointment a ‘needs assessment’ is conducted and a case plan implemented.
NBYF also provides drug and alcohol education workshops to the community. Workshops are offered to local high schools, TAFE NSW, other youth services.
These workshops can be custom designed to fit the needs of the group. A Drug and Alcohol Awareness course is also available to young people who have legal matters resulting from substance use. These referrals can be made from Juvenile Justice, Probation and Parole, Legal Aid or court chaplains.
For families, parents, husbands, wives, partners or siblings who are suffering the effects of Drug and Alcohol use within the family environment, NBYF can offer you crisis support, interventions and ongoing follow up to support you through this difficult stage. Parent support groups and other family workshops are also run throughout the year.
