A winning day for Oasis at Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2013

WHEN: 27 September 2013
WHERE: CBD, Sydney

What could be a better way to welcome Spring into Sydney than to go for a casual 42km run over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and down to the Sydney Opera House for the 2013 Blackmore’s Sydney Running Festival? Getting up at 5am to hand out water to these aforementioned runners, that’s what!

And that is exactly what our amazing supporters thought… how great are they! Our seventy runners and fifteen volunteers gave up their Sunday morning to support Oasis Youth Support Network (Oasis), raising vital funds and awareness for Youth Homelessness while pounding the bitumen and slogging it out over the drinks stand.

“Getting up this early was a challenge, I must admit, “Oasis Volunteer Margaret, said, “But once we got here and set-up the water, we have just had the best day supporting both Oasis and all these awesome runners. Running is not for me so this was a great wat that we could get involved.”

With a $200 gift voucher up for grabs from our incredible corporate parter Glue, there was fierce competition between our runners to out-fundraise each other, sky rocketing the total to $10,795!  For the second year running(no pun intended) the marathon-machine Paul took out the prize, raising a whopping $4,500. Great work Paul, what a champion!

With our last running event finishing up for the year we will miss all of our awesome runners, and hope to see you all back fitter, faster and fundraising more than ever in 2014.
