From time to time we all need a little support. The Marketplace, also known as Emergency Relief, provides practical and limited financial assistance in a compassionate, confidential manner. It offers a wide selection of food, clothing, and other necessities to people who are homeless or disadvantaged.
People who fall within our catchment area can present to The Marketplace with a current Health Care Card, have a private chat to one of our workers for assessment and then progress to the supermarket area to select items from the shelves.
Many people come to The Marketplace with a request just for food assistance, but after a one-on-one discussion with a worker, other problems are identified. This includes matters involving accommodation issues, mental health issues or even legal issues. Workers can then refer the person on to the correct program or service to receive the appropriate support.
