The Salvation Army helps more than one million disadvantaged Australians each year without discrimination, including people who are hungry, homeless, abandoned or abused. That's one person every 30 seconds.

The need is growing all the time. We have many heart-warming stories that owe their success to caring individuals like you.

In a typical week, across Australia, The Salvation Army provides*

  • 100,000 meals for the hungry
  • 2,000 beds for the homeless
  • 5,000 to 8,000 food vouchers
  • 1,000 people with assistance in finding employment
  • Refuge to 500 victims of abuse
  • Assistance to 500 people addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling
  • Several thousand people with counselling
  • 4,000 people in the court system with chaplaincy services

*approximate figures

Please keep up the great work and help us to continue supporting people in need all year round.

Stuck for fundraising ideas?

There are plenty of fun and exciting ways that you and your workplace can raise money for your local Salvation Army. Remember, planning is the key to success! Below are a few ideas to get you started:

HAVE A RED DAY

It’s time to add some colour to the next casual Friday in the office. Encourage everyone in the office to wear something red and ask for a donation. Remember to send out regular reminders before your event day and organise a donation box.

HOLD A MORNING OR AFTERNOON TEA

Have your work mates bring a plate of goodies and charge hungry colleagues for each item. Up the ante and turn it into a competition – whichever dish raises the most funds wins!

INTER-DEPARTMENTAL SPORTS MATCHES

Is there a fierce rivalry between the finance and marketing departments? It’s time to settle the score and organise a knock out competition to see which department reigns supreme in netball, soccer, footy etc. Get each participant to donate an hour’s pay to play.

DONATION MATCHING

Ask your boss to support your fundraising efforts by matching the funds you raise.
