About Youth WA

The WA Children's & Youth Department offers a vast variety of opportunities and activities for children and youth of all ages:

SAGALA

The Salvation Army Guarding and Legion Activities ministry is a life skills, award based program for young people aged between 5-16 that builds integrity, provides community service experience, leadership development and an opportunity to learn more about Christ

Junior Soldiers

Junior Soldiers are young people aged from seven upwards who have made a decision to follow Jesus. The program resource is very flexible, including discipleship lessons, a passport (service activity record book), a ‘big bud’ program, and achievement awards.   

Junior Soldier Camp

This camp provides an opportunity for children to learn more about following Jesus as a Junior Soldier in The Salvation Army.  We share in workshops, worship times and social activities. Campers aged between 7-12 years who are enrolled as Junior Soldiers are welcome to attend.

Junior SAYC

Junior Salvation Army Youth Camp is a camp created and led by The Salvation Army for children aged 8-12 years who are connection with Department of Family and Children Services. This camp targets positive development of self-esteem, confidence and resilience through an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.

SAYC

The Salvation Army Youth Camp is a week-long event at the beginning of each year that connects 35 young people from various backgrounds and 15 leaders from a specific corps. SAYC is aimed at improving self-esteem, self-image, interpersonal interaction, group work and group acceptance, to help build relationships, a support base and network of friends that can be maintained after the camp has finished.

Wet ‘n’ Wild

We start every year of with a splash at this State-wide one-night youth event. High schoolers from across WA get together for a night in the pool and games on the court.

Friday Night Fun

FNF is a term by term resource to effectively run an attractional and evangelical youth group.

Easter Camp

Easter Camp is a fun filled, worship packed youth camp which is instrumental in seeing young people come to faith and grow in their experience and knowledge of Christ.

Divi Youth

Every three months we hold a state wide youth event where young people of high school age get together for a night of worship, activities and food.

Summer Carnival

Summer Carnival is a 5 day camp for 12 – 21 yo’s run by The Salvation Army's Australia Southern Territory Youth Department full of games, fun, friends, worship discussion and teaching.

Corps Cadets

The Corps Cadets program is a class-based group for young Salvos, but it can be much more than that. Corps Cadets can become a support group and a team of friends, learning together and working to make their world a better place.

Basketball

The Salvation Army has its own Basketball Competition at Warwick Stadium every Monday night. There are 4 competitions; under 14, under 18, Men’s (a-e) and Women’s (a-b).

YARD

The YARD is a Young Adult Retreat Day for people 18 – 35. It’s an opportunity for young adults to have fun, be spiritually led, eat, and get together without leadership responsibilities.

Leaders Weekend

Our Leaders Weekend is a spiritual leadership development weekend for youth and children’s ministers, and youth and children’s workers across the Salvation Army in WA.

Leaders Lounge

Leaders' Lounge is a Youth Ministers' Conference for youth ministers, interns, youth workers and lay youth leaders of The Salvation Army's Australia Southern Territory.

Young Adult: Leadership Opportunities

Young adults are encouraged to take on leadership opportunities with their local corps. In addition to those opportunities they are invited to attend the Divisional Camps as leaders. Training and support are provided in the lead up to these events.
