The Salvos are hungry for food this Christmas

Western Australian law firm Lavan Legal is delighted to announce the launch of The Lavan Legal Christmas Kombi for The Salvos; a fundraising drive to collect donations of non-perishable food items and household goods to help The Salvation Army support families in need in Western Australia at Christmas-time 2012.

From Monday, 10 December 2012 to Sunday, 23 December 2012 the Lavan Legal kombi will be parked in prominent locations at selected metropolitan shopping centres.  Crews of Lavan Legal staff and other volunteers will man the kombi, collecting much-needed food and household items from Christmas shoppers on behalf of The Salvation Army.  The kombi will deliver the donations to Salvation Army Centres in Perth and its outer-lying suburbs.

The Lavan Legal Christmas Kombi will collect donations at the following shopping centres on the following dates:

  • Monday, 10 and Tuesday, 11 December:                        Garden City Booragoon.
  • Wednesday, 12 December:                                             Waterford Plaza
  • Thursday, 13 December and Friday, 14 December:        The Boulevard, City Beach
  • Saturday, 15 December and Sunday, 16 December:       Farmer Jacks Subiaco
  • Monday, 17 December:                                                   The Mezz, Mt Hawthorn
  • Tuesday, 18 December;                                                  The Park Centre, East Victoria Park
  • Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 and Friday 21 December:  Floreat Forum
  • Saturday, 22 and Sunday, 23 December;                        Claremont Quarter

Salvation Army Divisional Communications and Fundraising Secretary Warren Palmer said, ‘Due to a spike in homelessness and overcrowding it is estimated that The Salvation Army will assist up to 20,000 people in Western Australia this Christmas’.

Warren went on to say, ‘donating food is a wonderful way to support the community in a very practical way.  A special lunch can be beyond the reach of families who are struggling to pay utilities and rent.  We are very grateful to Lavan Legal for their support, this initiative will greatly increase our ability to provide food to those that are most in need this Christmas’.

Lavan Legal deputy managing partner Dean Hely said, “there are many collections of toys at Christmas but when we heard that The Salvation Army urgently needed help with the collection of food, we were keen to assist.  We encourage Christmas shoppers, when they see the kombi at any of the shopping centres, to make a donation.  No matter how small or large, every item will help to make a difference to a family or individual in need”.

Partnering with Lavan Legal in launching The Lavan Legal Christmas Kombi for The Salvation Army are West Australian Newspapers Limited, Hawaiian Management, Lease Equity, AMP Capital, Farmer Jacks Subiaco, Jones Lang LaSalle and Vinten Browning.

Lavan Legal is still seeking volunteers.  To volunteer your time, please contact Ms Iman Stubbs, Business Development Co-ordinator at Lavan Legal on 9288 6718.
