Family Violence Outreach Service

We all have the right to live without fear of violence and abuse

Recognising Family Violence

Family Violence includes violent behaviour that is repeated, controlling, threatening and coercive and occurs between people who are in or have been in, an intimate relationship.

Family Violence includes:

  • Physical assault
  • Direct or indirect threats
  • Sexual assault
  • Emotional & psychological torment
  • Economic control
  • Property damage
  • Social isolation, and
  • Any other behaviour that causes a person to live in fear

You do not have to go through this alone. We support women and children experiencing family violence who live in South Gippsland and Bass Coast Shires. Our experienced Family Violence workers provide support and understanding to women and children in a safe and confidential environment. If your abuser makes it difficult for you to use the phone, you may have to ask a trusted person to make the phone call for you.

When you contact our Family Violence Service you can expect:

  • To be believed
  • To be treated with respect
  • To be listened to
  • That the abuse will be taken seriously
  • Your choices will be respected, including whether you decide to leave or stay with your abuser

We offer:

  • Assistance to find safe, secure and affordable housing
  • Ongoing support based on an holistic case management approach
  • Information, resources and referrals to other services for you and your children
