Foster a Child. Raise a Future.

Victoria has an acute shortage of Foster Carers available to take care of the increasing number of children and young people unable to live with their own families.

In 2015, almost 9000 Victorian children were staying in Out of Home Care. 1500 of them lived with Foster Carers. Sadly, these figures are growing every year.

By volunteering your time and skills to becoming an accredited Foster Carer, you can make an enormous difference to the life of a child or young person. These children are in desperate need of love, support, and a safe and nurturing environment.

By fostering vulnerable children, you provide the solid foundations they need to secure futures as happy and healthy adults.

What is Foster Care?

Foster Care is the temporary provision of supportive home environment for children and young people who are unable to live with their family of origin.

The length of time a child or young person stays in Foster Care is decided on a case-by-case basis. Some children may need to stay with a Foster Carer for just a few days or weeks, whilst others may not be able to return to their families of origin for months or years.

Foster Carers are trained, assessed, and accredited to provide a safe place for these children.
