Volunteers wanted for Asylum Seeker & Refugee Youth Service

Make a positive change

You have an opportunity to be a part of an energetic and supportive team which creates an engaging, friendly environment where young people can participate in activities to broaden their understanding of Australian culture and assist in promoting a healthy transition into their community and school environment. The young people we work with attend secondary school in the Northern Suburbs.

School Holiday Program

Throughout the school holidays we provide a range of recreational activities giving young people the opportunity to have fun, build peer relationships and to connect with the community.

Youth Development Program

Structered activities are designed to support young people's personal and social development.  Activities include tours of Melbourne landmarks, sporting events, theatres, accessing public transport, and linking in with local services.

As young people engage in these challenging activities they build their confidence, self esteem and resiliance.  They will develop their social skills, engage better with their education and experience a healthy transition into the community.

Mentor Program

A suitable mentor will be matched with a young person for purpose of developing a healthy long term relationship. This relationship may include study support, going out for meals, movies and other informal outings.  Benefits for the young person include an improvement in educational outcomes, social skills, personal development and independance.
