Watching Video's together

Videos are a great place to start conversations about values.

Sitting on the lounge with your children watching videos is a fun way to talk about values.

You can use the pause button and the off button and talk at appropriate moments.

Virtually any video with a story gives yu a chance to think and talk about questions like:

  • What did each of the characters value?
  • What did they say about their values?
  • What did they do that showed what they valued?
  • What choices did the characters make that revealed their values?
  • Where did values of different characters come into conflict?
  • How did the character reslove the conflict?
  • What did you admire about the character and his/her values?
  • What did you dislike about a character and his/her values?
  • Faced with a situation in the video, what choices might you have made?  Why?
  • Do you think the makers of the video were trying to teach/promote/demonstrate any particular value/s?
  • In what ways does watching this video help to shape your values?
