Orphan Sunday - 4th November

On November 4th, 2012, thousands of hearts from across the globe, will be sharing one goal: that God’s great love for the orphan will find echo in our lives as well.  Orphan Sunday is your opportunity to rouse church, community and friends to God’s call to care for the orphan.

You're encouraged to hold a local event, the below website has many ideas as to how you can do this. Sermons and small groups, concerts and prayer gatherings, shared meals and youth activities—each rousing believers with God’s call to care for the orphan, and what we can do in response.

Here is a special word of encouragement from a great woman of God Terri Muendel.

***********************************************************************

To my Salvation Army friends,

There is a growing global concern for orphaned and vulnerable children in our community and in our world. This November 4th I would encourage you to get involved in raising awareness of the plight of these children, the most vulnerable on our planet. Please do your part to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves.

James 1:27 says "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

This is the call of God on the church... What will you do?

This year as I visit Russian orphanages and U.S. agencies involved in orphan care will you join me in looking at what WE can do.

There are many ways to be involved in orphan care, fostering, adoption, child sponsorship, be a buddy to some fostered kids.... the possibilities are endless. Imagine if no one had invested in Moses or Esther, both raised by foster families!?

What can you do in the life of a precious child???

Check out the resources available online to give you ideas about Orphan Sunday.

Bless you,

Terri Muendel
