Ocean Grove Op Shop Supporting the Bellarine
1 July 2010
Many of you on The Bellarine would be aware The Salvation Army has had an Op Shop in Ocean Grove for nearly five years.
The funds raised from this store supported The Salvation Army's work in Geelong, specifically the Belmont/South Barwon area.
As of July 1 all the funds from the Ocean Grove Op Shop will go directly into the Bellarine Peninsula.
With the opening of the Salvation Army Bellarine Peninsula in February 2010 it makes sense that the funds raised in Ocean Grove remain in the local community.
"We're really pleased to be connected with the Ocean Grove Op Shop" says local Salvation Army Officer Lieutenant Peter Hobbs. "It's more than a store, it's a community centre. As well as getting the best quality garments, bric-a-brac, and furniture at the lowest prices on the Peninsula it's a warm and inviting community centre. We hope that the funds raised and relationships made through this Op Shop will go towards our vision of transforming and bringing life and hope to the people of the Bellarine."
The funds will be used to bring holistic (body, mind and soul) care to individual, family, community and wider social groups, including a whole range of services from practical food parcels to gatherings of small groups to share about the good news and hope we believe is found in Jesus Christ.
"The Op Shop not only raises money for The Salvation Army's work, it is a vital community centre where you can see a caring community in action" says Lieutenant Peter Hobbs. "Thanks to the store manager Gill Fryer and her excellent team we know The Salvo Op Shop will continue to be a much needed service for the Bellarine Peninsula."
Pop in and grab a bargain today, who know's you might get more than you bargained for!
