National Day of Thanksgiving
25 May 2010
The Salvation Army Bellarine Peninsula recently made a formal gesture of thanks to their hard working Op Shop Volunteers.
Corps Officer, Lieutenant Peter Hobbs, visited Ocean Grove Salvo's Op Shop, on the trading estate on Saturday as part of the National Day of Thanksgiving and presented most of their 25 volunteers who give their time to the charity with a certificate and small gift.
Peter also took time to make special mention of Store manger Gill Fryer who has created a popular community centre at the store saying "This is the essence of the Gospel, creating loving, caring and authentic community with Jesus at the heart of it all".
Both Lieutenants Peter and Diane Hobbs look forward to receiving the store from the South Barwon Corps on July 1 this year. "We can't wait to have our own store, and have all the funds invested into the local community" says Lieutenant Diane Hobbs "these are exciting days".
