Salvos Celebrated National Neighbour Day
23 March 2010
Sunday the 28th March The Salvation Army Bellarine Peninsula turned on the kettle and fired up the barbie to celebrate Neighbourday. We hope it becomes an annual celebration of our community as it was a day that brought neighbours in our street closer together.
We know that our communities are only as strong as the people who live in them which is why Neighbour Day provides a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate the people who live around us, We know how vital neighbours are to each other during bushfires, floods and emergencies but everyday actions like borrowing power tools, taking in the recycling bin or walking the kids to school are often forgotten.
So Sunday March 28th was an opportunity to break the ice in our community and simply say thanks for being great neighbours, thanks for helping us out and thanks for being there when I needed you most.
