Relapse Prevention/ Harm Minimisation

A four session Module, with a yarning delivery focus that looks at the participant’s level of use and encourages them to see the harms of Alcohol, Ice and Cannabis use and how they can reduce/ minimise those harms. The fourth session has a focus, on general wellbeing and Relapse Prevention planning or Action.

Wise Choices

A structured 6 session Module that introduces the foundations of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills. The Module Utilises mindfulness skills to address difficult thoughts and feelings, while also raising awareness of values and taking small steps to act on values using the “choice point” model—occasions when there is a strong urge to act against values.

Anger Management

A 6 session Module, that focuses on teaching participants about the causes, consequences and outcomes of anger, including behavioural, physiological and cognitive components. The Module focuses on each participant’s individual experience of anger and provides practical strategies to manage their anger. The topics covered are: Shame and Anger, Communication, Power and Control, Relationships and It’s your choice, empowering participants to take control of how negative emotions impact their lives.

Drug Education

A 3 session psycho educational Module that explores how Alcohol and Drugs affect the Brain and using basic neuropsychological information, to create awareness and understanding of why participants may have: cravings, withdrawal symptoms, psychosis etc.

Single session educational, Skills based, and Key topic focus groups

Some of the subjects covered in these sessions include:

  • Spirituality
  • Sleep Hygiene
  • Food & Nutrition
  • Exercise Theory
  • Recovery Options
  • Art Therapy
  • Social Inclusion activities (Gym, Recreation)

Case management

The Program includes access to Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselling and Individual Case Management for each participant.

Case Management includes:

  • Treatment planning
  • Individual Centre Based Sessions
  • Outreach Session
  • Referal to other Alcohol & Drugs Services e.g. residential withdrawal and rehabilitation services, counselling etc.
  • Collaboration with existing supports such as GP's, Phychologists, Psychiatrists and Case Workers.

And may include Referral and Linkage to:

  • Mental Health Support
  • GP's
  • Housing Support Services
  • Financial Services
  • Dieticians
  • Gamblers Help
  • Legal Aid
