During World War 2, and all other conflicts that Australia has been involved
in, the Salvation Army has been present in a support role for the defence
forces men & women involved. Most military personnel can tell stories of
their encounters with the Salvation Army Red Shield people dispensing cups
of tea or a food pack or just "lending an ear" to somebody who needed to
talk.
The Red Shield activities are part of the heritage of the SAES. As a tribute
to those who served in that role we offer the following pictures of them in
various activities during World War 2.
