The Salvation Army respects and acknowledges that your privacy is
important and you have the right to control how your personal
information is used.
We do not collect any personal information on visitors to this
website. We do not use "cookies" or other technology to
track visits, aside from logging the following for statistical
purposes:
- the number of page hits
- the number of unique sessions as identified by server address
and top-level domain name (e.g. .com, .gov, .org, etc.)
- the pages accessed or downloaded by session
- the type of browser being used
The Salvation Army will not attempt to identify visitors or their
browsing activity. However, in the unlikely event of an
investigation our hosting logs may be inspected by a law enforcement
agency or other government agency exercising legal authority.
About our email service
If you wish to receive regular email updates from The Salvation
Army, you may sign up for our email service.
When you sign up for our email service, the personal details you
provide to The Salvation Army are for the sole purpose of sending
you information and updates or to request support via donations. At
no time will we disclose, sell or otherwise pass on this privileged
information to any other organisation. The personal details you
provide will only be used for the purposes for which it was
intended.
Our email database is protected by a secure user ID and password
to protect it from misuse, unauthorised access, modification or
disclosure.
Why do you ask for my street
address?
When you supply your email address, a page is displayed where you
are asked for your name and street address. These details are
requested so we can save money by ensuring that we do not send you
both email and surface mail.
Note: we are still at an early stage in this development, and
will later add a check box so you can request no further surface
mail.
What will be in the email?
You can choose the type of information you would like to receive
from The Salvation Army via email, including:
- Media releases
- Personal donation requests
- Corporate donation and sponsorship requests
- Worship and ministry
- Updates on Salvation Army social services
- Information for teachers and students
While the actual content of each email may include any or all of
the above, we hope to tailor the content to your request.

Email Addresses
We strive to be efficient with the funds that have been entrusted
to us. Because email can be sent at a very low cost in
comparison to surface mail, we have been asking our supporters to
supply their email address if they prefer or do not object to being
contacted in this way.
The Salvation Army may also purchase email address lists for the
purposes of fundraising. We will only purchase lists from
organizations that certify (1) that they comply with all applicable
state and federal Privacy Legislation, and (2) that the addresses
are from persons who have given permission for their email addresses
to be sold, and (3) that the persons have given permission for
organizations who purchase their name from a list to send them
email.
When we receive an internet donation, the donor's email address
is added to our email database unless the donor specifies that they
not be contacted regarding future fundraising or promotional
activities.
If you have received an email from us, rest assured that we
obtained your details via these methods.
While some people may prefer to receive information
electronically, we are also sensitive to the fact that many people
may not wish to have us contact them via email. You can remove your
name from our email list at any time, as we do not wish to be guilty
of spamming or offending our supporters.

unsubscribing or removing your email address.
Internet Donations
This website is enabled for Internet credit card donations using
The Salvation Army's international secure donation server, which is
based in London. It is certified as a secure website by BT
Trustwise and VeriSign.
However, users should be aware that there are inherent risks
transferring information across the Internet.
When an Internet donation is made, your credit card number is
used only to make a debit by Streamline Merchant Services and cannot
be viewed or accessed by The Salvation Army.
We record on our fundraising database the Internet donor's name,
address, email, telephone, amount donated, and if the funds are for
a specified gift. The donor is given the option (in wording of equal
size to all other information requested) to tick a box and specify
that they do not wish to receive future mailing or other contacts.
Otherwise, the donor may receive future information from The
Salvation Army for fundraising purposes.
At no time will we disclose, sell or otherwise pass on this
privileged information to any other organisation. The personal
details you provide will only be used for the purposes for which it
was intended. Our fundraising database is protected by secure user
IDs and passwords to protect it from misuse, unauthorised access,
modification or disclosure.
