ChildSafe Safety Management

At Preston Salvos, we believe that all children have the right to feel safe and be safe. Children and young people who are involved in any of our activities should receive the highest possible standard of care and protection. Therefore, in all our work, we seek to ensure their well-being and development. Within this context, we are committed to the protection of children, young people and the vulnerable from all forms of abuse. We are committed to being an agent of healing and justice.

At Preston Salvos, we have a zero tolerance for abuse. With this in mind, we are working hard at developing a culture of safety that ensures children are nurtured and protected when in our care. We have established policies and implemented procedures for the safety and protection of children and youth that all staff and volunteers are expected to abide by.

Preston Salvos uses the SP3 ChildSafe Safety Management System as a guiding tool in the expression of our concern for the safety of children and young people in our care.

The critical steps in Child safety include:

Screening: to appoint suitably qualified people to work with children

  1. Training: to assist in the protection of children from harm, and in safety management planning
  2. Sound Record Keeping: to keep people and programs accountable to ensure safe practice.

What we do reflects our values that children are valued and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

All staff and volunteers of Preston Salvos are responsible for supporting the safety, participation, well-being and empowerment of children.
