Doorways Community Support

If you’re facing a crisis, we’re here to help meet the immediate needs of you and your family.

We understand that without a safe place to stay, enough food for your family, or other necessities such as clothing for the kids, tomorrow can feel a long way off.

Our emergency relief services help relieve the stresses you’re facing today. If you find yourself in a tough spot, reach out and let us help.

Building towards tomorrow

Once your immediate needs are met, we can also help with your next steps. We can talk to your utility providers about that outstanding bill, help you connect with Centrelink about getting a job, talk to the police, or recommend other support services.

We would like to come along-side you so that you can plan for the future.

Positive Lifestyle Program

If you are experiencing personal difficulties but are unable to identify the cause or have no idea how to address the issue, give PLP a try.

This eight-week course takes you through a self-awareness-raising process, focusing on personal difficulties. PLP looks to address discontentment, fear, anger and fatigue, which are some of the anti-social and personally harmful consequences you might be experiencing with relationships and communication.

PLP is a non-invasive, non-judgmental way that encourages and helps you and discusses the following aspects: self-awareness, anger, depression, stress, loneliness, grief and loss, problem-solving, assertiveness, self-esteem, and goal setting.

A little help when needed

visiting an elderly lady

Pastoral Care

If you or a loved one would like someone from our Pastoral Care team to visit, we are more than happy to assist. We also will send cards and make contact with the elderly, sick and hurting or those in need of spiritual guidance.

Social Justice

Sometimes we need someone to fight for us or for causes that are bigger than one person. At The Salvation Army Perth Fortress, we engage in promoting, financially supporting and raising awareness of social justice issues.

Street Outreach Teams

Three nights a week our teams go to known places where homeless people are sleeping and need support. We provide referrals and transport for accommodation and rehabilitation services, links into our Doorways programs and food and warm bedding for nights where no accommodation can be found.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of our care programs, we are interested in hearing from you.
