Beyond the Classroom

The Salvation Army has a number of opportunities for students and communities to get involved in community service and education activities.

In Western Australia, schools have the ability to engage directly with staff and clients of The Salvation Army allowing them to gain a greater understanding of issues facing thousands of Australians every day. From Interactive workshops, involvement in our Red Shield & Christmas Appeals to tours of our facilities, there are plenty of opportunities for students to engage with the work of The Salvation Army locally. Our workshops and appeals challenge students to feel empowered about making a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.

We want your students to move beyond the classroom and see the problem of urban poverty in our own communites and resolve to become part of the solution for those struggling with life's challenges.

Beyond the Classroom offers a range of activities including:

1. Interactive Class Talks

2. Full Day Workshops

3. Tours of Our Facilities

4. Fund-Raising Activities

The Salvation Army's Beyond The Classroom school education program is proudly supported by Bendigo Bank.

The program is offered to all schools across Western Australia, educating students about social welfare issues in the Australian community and encouraging them to be involved. Over the past twelve months the Beyond The Classroom program connected with over 4,000 primary and secondary students in Western Australia and as a result, 50 schools raised over $34,000 for The Red Shield Appeal. Together, Bendigo Bank and The Salvation army are focused on delivering an education program that encourages students to be active in supporting their local communities.
