and on!

What should I bring?

Bible, pillow, mattress, sleeping bag/doona, sunscreen + hat, toothbrush, deodorant, toothpaste, towel, shampoo, soap, clothes for 5 days (including 5 pairs of undies), bathers, beach towel.
Bring all valuables (ipod, mobile, cash, etc.) at your own risk!

What shouldn't I bring?

Insane is a drug & alcohol free event. You know the drill...
No sporting equipment please - we'll have plenty to keep your heart rate up!

What if I don't belong to a corps?
Firstly, that's sad. But of course you can still come! You will need to register as part of a Salvo group. Contact us and we'll put you in touch with your nearest youth group.

What if I do something I probably shouldn't?

If you think you can climb onto the roof, be feral, or go missing in action, we'll know about it! You can count on consequences for this kind of behaviour.

There's some stuff that won't be acceptable at Insane - especially behaviour that hurts other people. If you get caught up in a disciplinary situation that can't be resolved quietly, we'll need to contact your caregiver. We'd hate to have to send anyone home, but will need to if other delegates are put at risk by poor behaviour.

How much money do I need?

Things you can buy: A canteen will be open during the week for your daily sugar intake, as well as Tshirts and other merchandise you'd expect at an insane youth event.

What time should I arrive, pick up?
Gates open at 1pm, Monday 11th January, for registration and finishes on Saturday 16th January at 2pm.

If you are flying in from interstate you will be bussed to and from the airport. The Insane program kicks off officially at 3.00pm to give you plenty of time to settle in, find your accomodation and find a new best friend.

What if I get sick?

As part of rego, we'll need all your medical information. We want to be able to look after you well if you get sick or hurt. We'll have medical-types on campus to keep you in good health. We recommend sunscreen, lots of water, and plenty of sleep.

If there's stuff you can't eat, we'll need to know. We will do our best to get the right food into you.

Boring Stuff for Parents

We understand you are nervous to be away from your little darlings for a whole week. But you can rest easy whilst on your dream getaway without the kids, we've thought of everything!

First aider's on site, (clear directions to A&E) all our adult volunteers have police checks. All under 18s will not be allowed to leave the grounds without adult supervision. Security roaming the property. We'll even have house parents and chaplains. Yes, there are plenty of showers, and lots of encouragement. Toilets are a plenty.

I’m concerned about safety at the event. How will this be managed?
The INSANE team have prepared exhaustive risk management plans for the event. Fire wardens, first aiders, lifeguards and houseparents will be briefed and delegated specific responsibilities during the week.

Every leader has the relevant police record checks and has been approved by their Division for leadership at INSANE. Our ratio is 1:8 and all young people will be supervised at all times outside the campus. For campus-based activities, leaders are allocated to every activity over the day, and have specific responsibilities.

INSANE will have a full-time first aid station (sick bay) and all delegates will be given emergency contact numbers to carry with them or in their mobile phones. Security guards will roam the campus from 10pm onwards.

Extra monies:
A canteen will be open during the week for their daily sugar intake. As well as Tshirts and other merchandise you'd expect at a great youth event.

Who can I call to contact my kids during the week?
If you can't get hold of your child on their mobile. We recommend you call their leader and then the appropriate DY. Numbers will be available closer to Insane.

Will people be allowed to “drop in” to the event?
All visitors will be required to sign-in to the campus. There will be an onsite manager who will track who is on site.

Behaviour management
There are some types of behaviour that won't be acceptable at Insane. If your child gets caught up in a disciplinary situation that can't be resolved onsite, we'll contact you for your advice. We'd hate to have to send youth home, but will need to if other delegates are put at risk by poor behaviour.
