Couch Wars

Couch surfing is a hidden epidemic for many young people experiencing homelessness.  Being homeless is not simply that they don’t want to live at home but that home is no longer safe.

Domestic violence and family breakdown is the biggest cause of youth homelessness in Australia.

Couch Wars

What is Couch Wars?

Couch Wars is a ‘Youth Sleepout’ with a difference. Teams will race around the Hobart CBD finding hidden couches and completing challenges against other teams.  After the challenge is over we will share in a basic meal and sleep rough for the night.

During the evening there will be a few more twists and turns as well as hearing from those from our Street to Home team.  We also have the privilege of hearing from young people who have experienced homelessness for themselves.

There will be a hearty breakfast in the morning before finishing at 8.30am.

When is Couch Wars 2018?

Saturday 20th October  - Couch Wars is held during Anti-Poverty Week.

Time:  Saturday 6.30pm  -  Sunday 9.30am

How do I get involved?

Firstly, gather a group of 4-6 of your friends or school colleagues, create a team name and sign up here.

Once you have signed up, we will email/post out your sleepout kit which includes permission forms and further information about the event.

How much does it cost?

Cost per person is $20.00 but you have the opportunity of fundraising as a team to help support our valuable programs.  The money raised will go towards helping young Tasmanians with food, blankets, counselling and support to get them out of danger and back on their feet.
