Case Manager – Accommodation services (Open Door)

Full Time permanent position

The Open Door and Flagstaff accommodation services are part of the Adult Services Network of The Salvation Army and are residential facilities which operate 24 hours/day, 7 days per week.  The two sites provide 102 beds in total (Open Door 43 beds) for men experiencing homelessness who have high needs, complexity or vulnerability.

The Case Work position is located at the Open Door and sits within a collaborative residential and outreach casework team. Case Workers work in partnership with residential community support staff and allied services to provide strength based, person centered, trauma-informed support to residents.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate and committed to social justice with an understanding of homelessness and an ability to engage with people in groups and one on one to join our accommodation services team.

Role

To assist people to access safe, secure and affordable housing by providing case managed housing-focused support.

To manage a caseload of 12 clients within a Case Management framework through the development of individual Case Plans.

To ensure access for clients to relevant services and advocate as appropriate with housing, legal issues, income security, health issues, drug and alcohol problems specialized counseling and psychiatric issues

Hours of work

  • Monday to Friday
  • Access to a monthly RDO

Remuneration

  • The position will be remunerated at the SCHCADS Award, Social Stream level 5 (Pay point determined on experience)
  • Salary packaging benefits

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in social work or a related qualification is considered desirable
