The Salvation Army announces partnership with Bendigo Bank to support Salvo school program
The Salvation Army’s education program Beyond The Classroom empowers students to make a difference in their community through education and activation. With the support of Bendigo Bank, the program will increase its capacity to include more schools across Western Australia, including regional areas.
Currently, Beyond The Classroom engages with more than 4,000 students in Western Australia each year from over 60 schools. Key elements of the program include education around social welfare issues, active participation by raising vital funds and tours of The Salvation Army programs and services.
“The Beyond the Classroom program engages students with issues of homelessness, illness, addiction and poverty in Australian culture and empowers them to change their perspective. Bendigo Bank’s support helps us to challenge students to become proximate to both those who are facing the issues and to the crucial services offered by The Salvation Army and other service providers” said Darren Reynolds, Schools Development Representative of The Salvation Army.
“Being involved locally is at the heart of what Bendigo Bank is about, and we are very excited to be a part of this program, operated by The Salvation Army, that really empowers change and understanding in the community” said Simone Ellul, Bendigo Bank State Manager of Western Australia.
To date, Bendigo Bank has invested more than 17 million dollars back in to the local communities of Western Australia, all made possible thanks to the banking business of their customers.
