Subiaco football club kicks off "Rugs for a reason"

The Salvation Army is partnering with the Subiaco Football Club to host “The Salvation Army Rugs For A Reason Day” benefiting the WA homeless. The Lions are encouraging all Subiaco members, supporters and fans attending the round 18 clash vs South Fremantle on July 21st to bring along and donate a blanket/rug to give the gift of warmth to those in need this winter.

The Salvation Army will be stationed around each gate at Medibank Stadium on July 21st to receive blanket donations. Fans will also be entertained by a performance from the Salvation Army Perth Fortress band before the League game and at half time.

Subiaco CEO Peter Capes said “We are excited to be involved in such a great effort to help those in need this winter and this activity will go a long way to help the WA homeless and the Subiaco Football Club is happy to lend a hand to the Salvation Army”

The Salvation Army’s spokesperson Warren Palmer said “This is a wonderful opportunity for the football community to send a compassionate message to people who are literally exposed to the winter elements and to say that we care. We are deeply grateful for the Subiaco Football Club and their supporters for their very kind and generous response which I’m sure will warm many hearts“

The Lions are honoured to be lending a hand to the Salvation Army. For more information or to donate please contact The Salvation Army on 137258 or 9260 9500 or go to our website www.salvationarmy.org.au
