Red Shield Appeal Launch 2013

Western Australia launched the Red Shield Appeal on Wednesday 22nd May at a breakfast attended by local business and community leaders, as well as representatives of local Salvos services.

With the stunning Matilda Bay as a back-drop, well-known Perth news presenter Greg Pearce led the mornings’ proceedings. The event was attended by Liberal MP and Minister for Community Services Tony Simpson, who announced a $60,000 contribution to open the doors to the Red Shield Appeal.

Red Shield Appeal Major Sponsor Dale Alcock Homes, have been a supporter of the Appeal for six years and contributed a further $40,000, while Crown Perth also announced a $20,000 contribution.

Former client, and current Bridge House employee, Amber Day recalled her journey with the Salvos and reminded everyone of the importance of the Red Shield Appeal, and how it changed her life. The morning ended on a high note with Amber cutting the ribbon on a giant red door to symbolise the opening of new doors for all those people who turn to the Salvos for support.
