Red Shield Appeal - volunteer call
The annual Red Shield Doorknock Appeal is on the 19th and 20th May and we are calling for over 13,000 West Australians to volunteer a few hours of time to help The Salvos knock on as many doors as possible.
More than one million people in need come to The Salvation Army each year across Australia. To continue this assistance, The Salvation Army needs to reach our financial targets. In Western Australia, we are aiming to raise $860,000 which will significantly boost our ability to reach our full year goal in Western Australia of $8.5m. Funds donated to the Red Shield Appeal will ensure services and programmes for the Australian community can continue to operate in the 12 months to come.
Vital social programmes such as crisis accommodation, support for families in need, addiction recovery, emergency services and refuge for victims of domestic violence are some of the services that The Salvation Army provides and have been experiencing very strong demand.
Our aim is to mobilise as many collectors as possible to reach the most homes that we can. It only involves about two hours and we are encouraging people to form teams. Volunteering for the doorknock is very rewarding, knowing you are helping those less fortunate in our community.
To volunteer simple call 13 SALVOS (13 72 58) for the cost of a local call or visit salvationarmy.org.au. To give to the Red Shield Appeal, please call 13 SALVOS, visit salvationarmy.org.au, donate at any Westpac branch, Bendigo Bank, or post your cheque to PO Box 9888 in your capital city.
