One Bag Appeal 2015

   Media Release

One Bag gives Homeless a bag full of help

In 2014, a new initiative was launched which provided 751 bags of useful and helpful items to those who are out on the street, living in vehicles, or having no permanent place to call home.

With just One small donation of $50 during the month of July you can greatly help a Perth homeless person struggling to get ahead in life. The aim this year is to raise enough funds to prepare 1000 bags for distribution.

This One kind gesture will sponsor a tangible One Bag, which is a reusable backpack stuffed full of basic food and toiletries that will be given out to Perth’s homeless people during the Salvation Army’s Winter Appeal, making their lives that little bit easier and showing our support for them.

100% of tax-deductible donations will go towards goods for the WA homeless, giving them more than just food and toiletries, it’s giving them relief, dignity and hope. Any remaining funds out of the donation will be used for The Salvation Army’s work on the Streets of Perth.

Warren Palmer, spokesperson for The Salvation Army said “The concept is very simple and tangible, the more donations received, the more bags we can prepare ready for distribution to those in need. The initiative first launched last year has proven very effective and helpful providing a practical and visual impact on those who need a hand up and saying that we care about them”.

To participate, please donate through 13Salvos (137258) or go to www.salvationarmy.org.au/donation/one-bag

Bags will be prepared for distribution from August.
