What is Chaplaincy?

The Salvation Army is committed not only to providing material and physical support, but also to providing religious and spiritual support. We do this through our chaplaincy services.

Salvation Army chaplains are skilled listeners who respect the religious traditions of those who seek help. The highest level of professional confidentiality can be expected when you speak to a chaplain.

Chaplaincy is a free service and is the right of all who use or work for the Salvation Army SalvoCare Eastern.

The Role of the Chaplain is quite broad and varied with it's emphasis on offering practical, emotional and spiritual support.

Services may include:

  • Pastoral Care
  • Advocacy
  • Pastoral
  • Counselling
  • Companionship
  • Spiritual guidance
  • Worship
  • Debriefing
  • Education
  • Prayer

Spirituality, faith and religion can be confusing at times. At your invitation, Chaplains can assist you in the journey of exploring beliefs about God, faith and spirituality.

Chaplains can also provide links to local churches and the programs that they run.
