Breathe Cafe 'Hop' into Easter

March 23

Today Breathe Cafe Play Restaurant presented Westcare with crates of Easter eggs and pyjamas for our babies, children and young people in foster care.

Easter can be an extraordinarily difficult time for children in care as it is often a holiday tradition that is spent away from their family.

This Easter, Breathe Cafe came up with the initiative to run an Easter drive for the young people in Melton so they could share in the joy and magic other young people feel during the Easter holiday.

The cafe community's support saw hundreds of eggs donated and over  pairs of pyjamas.

Cafe owners, Maryanne and Geoff coordinated the drive by working closly with Westcare to generate a list of young people's names and their pyjama sizes. Customers could then walk in store and select a young person's name and shop with them in mind.

Many donors generously brought in pjs for babies and young children. What about the children they couldn't find pyjamas for? In their personal time, the couple went out to buy pyjamas so that no young person was excluded.

This donation drive follows their Christmas drive where the Breathe Cafe community provided presents for all young children in foster care at Melton.

A big thank you to Maryanne and Geoff for their continued support and their committment to caring for our most vulnerable in the community.
