Western Bulldogs Football Clinic

The young people at Westcare’s Melton Foster Care and Adolescent Home Based Care were scoring goals with Western Bulldogs greats, Robert Murphy, Jackson Macrae and Will Minson.

Thanks to Lumo Energy, the kids kicked off the day with a footy clinic hosted by Taylor Maher and the Bulldogs players. From handpasses to speckys, the young people explored footy techniques and embraced the opportunuty learn first hand from the very best.

The young people reveled in the opportunity to ask questions- with one young person's curiosity about the player's pre-game rituals learned that cooking, cleaning & playing FIFA helped get them in the zone.

A tour of the training facility followed, where young people not only got to see the equipment, but jump on and have a go! One boy had a spin on the stationary bikes and another young girl challenged herself with the rowing machine.

Young people were wisked through the long corridors of the football club and took part in a special behind- the- scenes look at the ice spas the players use, even sticking their hands in the spa- to check out just how cold it was!

To wrap up the festivities, kids pooled into the presentation room where Western Bulldogs goodie bags waited for them. But for two lucky boys- the treats didn’t end there.

The Creating Dreams Project, run through Westcare, acknowledged the achievements of the two young boys. Westcare’s General Manager, Peter Mulholland, presented them with a certificate recognising their focus in their studies. On behalf of Creating Dreams, the Bulldogs players presented the two worthy recipients with bikes.

Western Bulldog's Will Minson, Jackson Macrae, Captain Robert Murphy and Taylor Maher ran the clinic.

This was a fabulous opportunity for Westcare’s young kids, and Westcare is grateful for the support of Lumo Energy in setting up the clinic and the Western Bulldogs for sharing their passion for the game with our young people.
