Community Support Service (CSS)

CSS is The Salvation Army Emergency Relief and Financial Counselling Service for residents of the Local Government Area of Brimbank.CSS works within The Salvation Army Doorways framework which, as a component of the program response, offers an emergency relief case worker.

The program provides emergency relief for clients living in the City of Brimbank and part of the City of Maribyrnong.  Emergency relief includes support such as:

  • Food vouchers
  • Case management
  • Fire relief grants
  • Referrals for further support such as financial counseling
  • Christmas Cheer

Emergency relief provided 6014 assistances to 1953 clients, while 18 clients agreed to case management.  29% of assistance was provided to clients who had not used the service before. 48% of clients resided in either Kings Park or Sunshine.  The average age of the client was 41.
