Peterson, E. H. (2010). Practise Resurrection: A Conversation on Growing Up in Christ. London: Hodder & Stoughton.

The Creation of Church
Growing up in Christ is a team sport. Individualism stunts growth, and inhibits maturity (p112). While we hold to individualistic ideals, we are not able to embrace church. “Individualism severely handicaps us in growing up to the measure of the full stature of Christ. If unchecked, it can be fatal, condemning us to lifelong immaturity” (p113). Instead of focussing on ourselves, we should focus on Christ; it is He that we are growing up into. “We are too full of ourselves. It is Christ – not me, not you, not us – who ‘fills all in all’” (p113). Read More....

Peterson, E. H. (2010). Practise Resurrection: A Conversation on Growing Up in Christ. London: Hodder & Stoughton.
“Continuing Peterson's evaluation of contemporary Christian spirituality, Practise Resurrection is a study of the book of Ephesians. It is often thought to be Paul's most difficult letter, but has been for over thirty years Peterson's text for his identity as a pastor. Peterson points out that although Christians emphasise the importance of new birth, growth is equally important. This book is a conversation on spiritual formation and what it means to become a mature Christian. Read More....

The Place of Revival in God’s Redemptive Plan

The Mission of God
To understand revival it is necessary to step back and look at the bigger picture of what God is doing in the world. True revival, driven by God, is part of God’s larger purposes; his missio Dei which has been documented in scripture. From the time when God promised Eve that her seed would crush the head of the serpent (Gen. 3:15), and to Abraham that all people would be blessed through him (Gen. 12:1-3), God has been at work to restore all creation through the messiah. Revelation 21 depicts the final goal of God’s work, to make everything new (v5); and to prepare for himself a bride (v9) who is the new Jerusalem (v10), which will shine with the glory of God (v11) as he will dwell with his people (v3). The Child in our Midst

Over the past decade there has been a deeper acknowledgment that the bible suggests that children have a more significant role to play in bringing about the kingdom of God. “Children's spirituality  is the child's development of a conscious relationship with God, in Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit, within the context of a community of believers that fosters that relationship, as well as the child's understanding of--and response to--that relationship" [1]. There are a number of new programs and resources which challenge existing paradigms of children’s ministry and provide a framework for working with children both inside and outside the four walls of the church. The aim of these resources is to provide a holistic approach which involves children who are marginalised in society such as the poor, oppressed, abused and exploited as well as church kids [2]. Spiritual Warfare in the Mission Context

The Clash of Two Kingdoms
Stories about the battle between good and evil play a dominant role in all societies. Some cultures such as the Babylonians have believed that evil preceded good. The biblical witness stands in contrast, starting from a good God who creates a good universe. That good creation was corrupted and evil entered in. God was not content to leave His good creation to the corruption of sin and has been working to defeat evil and restore His creation. As God’s kingdom advances, it is inevitable that Christians will be involved in spiritual warfare against the kingdom of darkness. This warfare occurs in two major settings; in offence against the kingdom of darkness, and in defence against attacks from the enemy. Read More....
