3rd Year of Prayer July 2009 to July 2010
This past year of 24-7 has been absolutely amazing. Of the 162 corps in the territory, 150 corps and social centres participated in a time of 24-7 prayer. Of that number, 42 corps participated for the first time, which is just wonderful, and with the exception of only a few days here and there, we successfully covered July 2009 to July 2010 in 24 hours of daily prayer. Our theme was ‘Pray with Authority, Pray with Power, Pray non-stop and that’s what the corps did.
During Commissioning weekend 2009, 24-7 Prayer was asked to host the Hope Tent in Federation Square in the heart of Melbourne, as a public display and celebration of our values; human dignity, justice, hope, compassion, and community.
After a discussion with Commissioner Knaggs it was decided to offer prophetic prayer.
The team of 14 prayed for 60 people over the four hours—40 were Christians and 20 were not. Of those 20, 14 came to faith. It was an incredible time.
Inspired by the experience Camberwell Corps has been offering prophetic prayer at Camberwell markets once a month since February this year.
Part of my hope for 24-7 Prayer is that prayer will offered to non-Christians outside our prayer rooms. In an effort to further those connections we also attended Melbourne’s Mind, Body, Spirit Festival from 11-14 June to offer Prophetic Prayer. During the four days we prayed for 253 people and 25 came to faith!
2nd Year of Prayer July 2008 to July 2009
God has been doing some amazing things through the commitment of the Territory to non-stop 24-7 prayer. On 24/07/08 we commence a 2nd year of non-stop prayer. Many obstacles and barriers have been overcome, but we have only just begun, and the challenge is to continue in faith and enlarge our vision. Isaiah 54:2-3 "Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the the right and to the left."
In each centre a prayer room will be set up for non-stop prayer. Corps are encouraged to commit to a week. Following the completion of the committed time a corps/centre will then hand the baton of prayer over to another centre/corps. Book on line your dates: Calendar page.
1st Year of Prayer July 2007 to July 2008
On 24/07/07 The Salvation Army Southern Territory commenced a year of non-stop prayer. During this first year of non-stop prayer, the "baton of prayer" has continued to be passed throughout the Regions and States of Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria & Western Australia. Many corps and centres have had a "taste" of what can happen when people come together in prayer through partipating in a prayer room.

To learn how to set up a prayer room and to find resources for the week please download the resource manual under the Resources section of this website.
Having a prayer room in your corps/centre provides an opportunity for every generation from the young to the elderly to be involved.
In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.....
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Acts 2:17,21

How you can become a prayer partner:
Corps & centres can register their intention to be involved by clicking on your preferred date on the webpage. This will be confirmed ASAP via an email or phone. Once confirmed a hard copy of the resource pack will be forwarded to you, or you can download it from the Resources section of this website.
Some corps/centres may not be able to commit to a full week, perhaps only being able do 24/4 or 24/3. Remember this is a faith venture, so try to commit as much time for prayer as is possible. Please indicate your intention.
In the resource manual, there are some suggestions for those corps/centres who only have a small number of people to call to prayer. Why not try to engage the other churches in your community to be involved? This worked very well in the Australia Eastern Territory.
Step 1: Choose a day, week or month on the Prayer Calendar
Step 2: Sign up to pray!
