The following books are not part of the current curriculum but are recommended for reading.

First Impressions

Before a service even begins, first-time guests usually decide whether they'll return to your church. This means church leaders need to create no-fail, practical ways to ensure a visitor's first impression is the best impression.

When guests feel valued, they will return. And when they do, they'll have the opportunity to experience Jesus' love. Let visitors know "You matter to God, so you matter to us." Author Mark Waltz shares the strategies that work in his church—and takes "greeting" to a whole new level. Adapt these practical ideas to your church's unique setting, and it won't be long before everyone feels welcome.

·         Learn how to create a church that's welcoming to guests—from the moment they pull into the parking lot.

·         Address the philosophy, strategy and implementation of a ministry that welcomes first-time and returning guests.

·         Gain sure-fire, practical ways to make the first impression the best impression.

"Mark understands the most important element of making any organization (whether it's a business or a church) attractive and sustainable: the Consumer Experience. This book will help you create and manage an experience that is engaging and inspiring, giving you an edge in this topsy-turvy world. Get this book and improve the first impressions that you make on everyone who crosses your path (or threshold)."

—Tim Sanders

Welcoming Church

You get only one chance to make a first impression!

The initial impact your congregation makes on newcomers is crucial.

The Welcoming Church offers six studies, samples materials, practical programs and suggested resources for small groups. It is a useful tool which every church can use to develop a more effective welcoming structure.

'Peter Corney's model for building a congregation comes from experience. This is an excellent practical resource for any church which is serious about evangelism and welcoming newcomers.'

- Dr Lindsay Stoddart, Deputy Chair, Billy Graham Association

Biblical Church Growth

Leaders Change and Trends go out of style.  Only churches that are built on the solid foundations of God’s word will remain effective.

Biblical Church Growth explores the unchanging biblical principles for church growth and applies them to today’s culture.  Gary McIntosh defines church growth as effective evangelism, not simply a methodology for increasing membership.  He sets forth nine basic principles that provide an eternal foundation for helping any church, large or small, achieve lasting vitality and growth.

“Gary McIntosh skilfully forges a step-by-step guidebook so that we can be instruments of Jesus to build his church today. No church leader should miss this strategic book”

            - C. Peter Wagner . Wagner leadership institute

“It is refreshing to have a church growth book that takes us back to basics. Gary McIntosh connects church leaders with the heartbeat of Donald McGavran, the undisputed father of the church growth movement”.

Visioneering

Visioneering is the engineering of a vision. It's the process one follows to develop and maintain vision. "Vision," writes Andy Stanley, "is a clear mental picture of what could be, fueled by the conviction that it should be."

In the bestselling Visioneering, Stanley builds a compelling case for the necessity of a clear, God-ordained vision for each of the roles of your life. Whether you're a parent with a vision for your children or a CEO pursuing a corporate vision, Visioneering is the perfect tool to help you develop and maintain God's unique purpose for your life.

Everybody ends up somewhere in life. You can end up somewhere on purpose!

"Visioneering is the best book on vision I've seen. It will put you on track to discovering God's purpose for your life. In my course "The Vision of the Leader," I quote from Andy's book more than any other. Visioneering should be on the bookshelf of every pastor, business leader, and parent in America. I heartily endorse it!"
