Transformed Lives – Taking Women’s Ministry to the Next Level
Compiled by Chris Adams
This second book for leaders of women’s ministry in local churches gives guidance in how to move women from learning to doing, from being the objects of ministry to ministering to those around them.
Transformed Lives is organised into six parts with an appendix.
· Part 1 emphasises the importance of prayer and provides suggestions for implementing a prayer ministry.
· Part 2 stresses the importance of Bible study with helps for teaching and administering small-group Bible studies.
· Part 3 encourages women to find and use their spiritual gifts and includes an inventory and explanation of how to use the gifts in ministry.
· Part 4 focuses on leading women to serve. It targets four areas: outreach, mentoring, evangelism, and missions.
· Part 5 speaks to special needs within women’s enrichment ministry: ministering to hurting women, women in the workplace, mums of young children, and new members.
· Part 6 provides leadership skill development through chapters on communication, conflict resolution, negotiating with grace, networking, and strategic planning.
· The appendix includes information on budget planning, providing creative child care, easy ministry promotion ideas, and resources for networking and growing the ministry.

Bible Studies
Living Beyond Yourself DVD Set. Originally offered as a print-only study, LifeWay has expanded the format of this study to include video segments featuring the author and other components similar to other popular Beth Moore studies. It's a powerful resource that will equip believers to come to know the freedom of a life filled with peace, joy, gentleness, and other positive characteristics (Gal. 5:22-23). By encouraging participants to develop and maintain an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God, this study will help them to nurture and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit in their daily lives. The DVD set contains six DVDs containing 11 teaching segments recorded in Beth's home church. Using session titles like "A Composite of Peculiar Patience", "Gentle Giants", and "The Crucible of Self Control", Beth walks participants through each trait listed in the Fruit of the Spirit passage from Galations 5:22-23 and teaches what they look like in the day-to-day
challenges of life.

To Live is Christ is the book adaptation of the bestselling, video-based, interactive Bible study by the same name. Tracing Paul's life from childhood to martyrdom, the book looks at how the apostle's life can give readers a renewed sense of purpose in God's plan. His undying passion for Christ continues to inspire and challenge those with a deep spiritual hunger for the things of God. Readers will be greatly refreshed by the obvious mercy of God that causes those who have failed Him to repent and serve Him wholeheartedly and effectively.

Playgroup
Music, learning and lots of fun—The Salvation Army provides a well-organised structure of activities to cater for preschoolers.
Although diverse, early childhood ministries at individual corps and centres are developed on a ‘needs-based’ approach. This allows each location to adopt an individual style and offer the programs best suited to their community.
The playgroup department is part of The Salvation Army women’s ministries team at a national and international level. Primarily, it exists to oversee Army-facilitated playgroups and mainly music programs that are run throughout corps and centres.
Our Salvation Army mandate provides the foundation from which we carefully design our early childhood ministries. Connecting with families and connecting them to Jesus, or at least being part of that journey, is our focus.
Salvation Army facilitated playgroups seek to provide a welcoming learning environment for preschoolers. The playgroups are run by volunteers (who all undergo national police checks) and offer informal and formal learning opportunities.
Activities focus on developing preschoolers’ skills and encourage social interaction, language development, coordination and the use of both fine and gross motor skills.
Providing a place for parents and carers to connect with others is another very important component of our playgroups.

Maps - Time out and a way through for mums
Maps is an exciting new ministry for mothers of children aged from 0-5 that aims to build relationships and lead women to be transformed by God’s grace.
Launched by the women’s ministries department at the Early Childhood Conference 2007, Maps is a ministry that aims to pamper mothers of small children, as well as providing information and support on parenting of babies and young children.
‘Maps is like a compass providing direction to women in the early stages of parenting,’ Major Simone Robertson says.
Maps can be held as once-a-month ‘mum’s night out’, the two-hour Maps sessions include practical advice, time to browse through the Maps library, opportunities to share with other mums, a biblical thought/challenge and delicious desserts or supper.
Who attends Maps? Mothers who also attend First Steps, Playgroup or mainly music, and/or any mum from the corps or community who has under school age children. Maps is another connecting point for young mums.
Resources including a booklet explaining the Maps program, a ‘What Maps means to me’ DVD, a promotional DVD to corps starting a Maps ministry, Maps business cards, postcards and fridge magnets, lists of suggested topics/themes and guest speakers are available from the women’s ministries department.
