Make your petitions deep - Isaiah 7:11 |
The Salvation Army currently has three relief teams working with the communities devastated by the recent earthquake in China. This tragedy saw almost 70,000 people loose their lives and more than 5 million left homeless. Through The Salvation Army Sichuan Earthquake Appeal many Australians have supported the communities affected by this disaster. Importantly, members of The Salvation Army's emergency response teams are providing much needed emotional support to the people of the Sichuan Province. These communities are dealing with the great loss and sudden change brought by this disaster and will need ongoing emotional and spiritual support which The Salvation Army is committed to providing. Please pray for the people of China, and for those assisting them both spiritually and physically
Pray for the victims of this terrible disaster; those who have been left homeless, especially for children who have lost their parents. Pray that the government of Myanmar will open their doors to allow aid and aid workers access to help them. Pray for the rebuilding effort, of which The Salvation Army will play a major role. Pray for the tens of thousands of Myanmar nationals working outside of the country who cannot get information about their families. We have about forty Myanmese working at Peacehaven, and many of them have been unable to contact family members in the affected area.

Pray for stability across our world as leaders face the issues of resolving this financial crisis. Pray for the people who are impacted by such an event, particularly those who are disadvantaged and need of aid - may this not be a time when those who have plenty are guarded about their generosity for those in need.

I stand in awe of your deeds, O Lord. Hab 3:2 |
working party(headed up by Captain Robert Evans) which consists of ministers and members of the local churches in Noarlunga are on a faith venture, by opening a community 24-7 prayer room. The way this has come about is incredible, and has been an absolute faith venture by the working party. They are setting up this communal prayer room in one of the most difficult, and disadvantaged areas within their community. It willl be located in a group of shop fronts, one of which is the corps thrift shop. To gain the finances to be able to do this the local community of faith has "stepped up" by providing funds for this to happen.
Captain Robert Evans writes: "Tomorrow, (24th September) we move into our new prayer room which will now be located in Shop 4, Cnr. Melsetter & Lindisfarne Rd.'s Huntfield Heights. We are holding our Opening (after 7 weeks of praying) on Thursday night with a combined churches prayer meeting - it will be awesome!! We now have our own website for people to register a timeslot on-line. It is still a work in progress (particularly the registration process), but it is looking great, check it out:" www.24-7prayeronkaparinga.com.
