How to Apply
We prefer that you visit our office to collect an application form.
To assess your application it is very important that you bring:
- Proof of identity
- Information about any medical condition
- Any circumstances that affect your ability to rent in the private or public rental market
- Any special circumstances that have contributed to your current housing situation
Once you have made an application, please contact Red Shield Housing if your circumstances change, especially if you have a change of address or no longer wish to be housed by the Red Shield Housing Association.
How much will my rent be? Is there a bond?
Tenants will generally pay 30% of their gross household income as rent. Bond is equivalent to 4 weeks rent.
How will my income be assessed?
Your application will first be assessed to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria. Eligible applicants are interviewed and placed on a waiting list, which is prioritised according to the availability of appropriate housing.
What are my chances of being housed?
Applicants cannot be guaranteed housing, as there are more applicants than properties. It is also difficult to estimate the waiting time for housing.
Allocations are dependant on the type of property that becomes available and the needs of the applicant and the association.
