The Spirit of Christmas
The first Spirit of Christmas CD was produced in 1993. It was born out of a desire to continue the Myer tradition of philanthropic support in the Community, whilst at the same time providing something special for everyone to enjoy. The proceeds from the sale of the CD go to the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal, which supports many services throughout Australia.
Since the first Spirit of Christmas CD, this Myer initiative has raised over $6 million for the Salvation Army.
Over the years, the Spirit of Christmas CD has showcased the best of our Australian artists and musicians and their music provides great warmth and inspiration to people of all ages at Christmas time.

Myer CEO Bernie Brookes says "For 15 years now, The Spirit of Christmas CD has brought the country’s finest musical talent together for a great cause with proceeds from the sale of the CD going to The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal, which supports at-risk children and youth throughout Australia. Since the first Spirit of Christmas CD, this Myer initiative has raised $6 million for The Salvation Army."
Each year, the Salvation Army helps more than a million Australians in need and at Christmas time – more than any other time – the emphasis on family can mean that loneliness and financial desperation is even more of an issue.
The Spirit of Christmas CD retails for $19.95 and is available exclusively at Myer stores from November.
